Rewiring your home is a big job and can at first seem overwhelming and stressful.
However, by choosing Thames Valley Electricians to rewire your Bracknell home we will do everything we can to make the process run as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
One thing we always provide our rewire customers with is a detailed explanation of exactly what the rewire process involves. After an initial visit, inspection and talk with the customer we will provide a quote. Once all is agreed we will select a start date that suits the customer. The first morning of the rewire we begin to mark out new socket and switch positions agreed by the customer. While the marking is carried out, we start prepping the home. This consists of dust sheeting all areas that need chasing. We then begin to set up our dust extraction chaser and angle grinder and get all chasing carried out. Alongside this we are planning cable routes under carpets and floorboards. We then start route cabling and pulling cables to these set locations. All of this typically takes 2 days. We try to work as methodically as possible and work on separate circuits at a time, starting at the top and moving down where possible.
By the end of day 2 all cabling, sockets and switches are installed. This will all be connected to the brains of your electrical system (the fuse-box) which will be upgraded to a new consumer unit and power is restored! Day 3 is essentially the big clean up. Our plasterer will come in and bond and plaster any chase holes and damage.
After all is tidied up, we will begin testing and certifying. We try to complete rewires for average size properties in as little as 3 days. Larger properties will of course take longer but timeframes will be discussed on the initial visit. Thames Valley Electricians will always leave your Bracknell home tidy and we will always do our best to limit disruption where possible. As stated previously we try to make the rewire process run as smoothly as possible for everyone involved.
How much will a rewire cost?
The cost of a rewire will depend on the size of the property. There may also be other factors such as additional installations, condition of wiring and whether the home is occupied or not. Our guide prices are as follows:
- 2-bedroom house: starting from £4000 + VAT
- 3-bedroom house: starting from £4500 + VAT
- 4-bedroom house: starting from £5000 +VAT
Faulty electrics increase the risk of house fires drastically so if you’re worried about old, deteriorated wiring please do at least book in for an electrical inspection. This is known as an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) and will identify if a rewire is needed. A full rewire is an initial investment but will protect you and your family for many years to come. Ready to rewire your Bracknell home? Contact Thames Valley Electrics today.
